For Coloured Girls Bursary Foundation is a not-for-profit organisation. The sole drive for the organisation is to provide a platform for girl children who are growing up in “coloured” communities with no or little access to resources to ensure that they become independent, intellectual and strong women who will become role models and mentors of tomorrow.

The mission of For Coloured Girls Bursary Foundation

  • Identify and recruit potential girl children at grade 8 through to grade 12
  • Career guidance and counselling for all recruits
  • Recruits will undergo a psychometric test and support (based on individual needs)
  • 24 / 7 counselling and psychological support for all girl children
  • Cultivate developmental programmes to ensure that the identified students have the necessary support from grade 10 until matric
  • Readiness programme for matriculants which will commence in Grade 11 until 1st year university
  • Partnership with the top universities, colleges, and other accredited higher educational institutions on a national and international level
  • Ensure that all girl children at the end of matric have a driver’s licence
  • Secure the funding for the girl children which includes uniforms, stationery, books excluding tuition costs
  • Provide a mentor / buddy for each girl child
  • Continuous fund-raising efforts to ensure more girl children will be provided with support and funding
  • Ensure ROI for the funders / supporters through the mentoring programme and pay forward initiative
  • Access to medical practitioners

Providing Support and Resources

To provide support and resources from grade 8 to grade 12 through mentoring, learning and development initiatives, psychological and financial aid for those with the potential and passion to further their academic qualifications. In addition, provide the necessary bursary platforms to assist the girls after their matriculation with information and funding if necessary.
