Woodlands Dairy Learnership programme for aspiring South Africans: Junior HR Officer

The Junior HR Officer is responsible for providing support and assisting the Human Resources department in various administrative tasks. The ideal candidate will possess strong organizational skills, attention to detail, and the ability to work in a fast-paced, collaborative environment. This role offers the opportunity to gain valuable experience and knowledge in all aspects of Human Resources management.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Assist in recruitment and selection processes, including drafting job descriptions, posting job ads, reviewing resumes, scheduling interviews, and conducting initial screenings.
  • Support in the onboarding process by preparing new hire paperwork, conducting orientations, and coordinating necessary training sessions.
  • Maintain employee records and ensure accuracy and confidentiality of data in the HRIS system.
  • Assist in administering employee benefits, including enrolment, and respond to employee inquiries regarding benefits and policies.
  • Support HR initiatives, such as employee engagement surveys, performance management, and talent development programs.
  • Assist in maintaining compliance with all federal, state, and local employment laws and regulations.
  • Assist in conducting employee relations activities, including addressing employee questions and concerns and providing basic guidance on HR policies and procedures.
  • Support in organizing and coordinating HR meetings, including preparing agendas, taking minutes, and distributing materials.
  • Conduct research on HR trends, best practices, and relevant legal updates to ensure departmental compliance and effectiveness.

Knowledge and Skills:

  • 3-year tertiary HR qualification and 2 years related Human Resources experience preferably gained in a manufacturing environment. 
  • Experience in Sage 300 People, experience in medical aid reconciliation, working knowledge of EEA, LRA, Skills Development Act, and BCEA.
  • Knowledge of HR principles, practices, and employment laws and regulations.
  • Proficient in using HRIS systems and MS Office applications, particularly Excel, Word, and PowerPoint.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to communicate effectively with individuals at all levels of the organization.
  • Strong organizational and multitasking abilities, with a keen attention to detail.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive information with discretion.
  • Demonstrated problem-solving skills and ability to work collaboratively in a team setting.
  • Proactive attitude and willingness to learn and take on new responsibilities.
  • Valid driver’s license is a plus.
