The Hungry for Action campaign brings together NGOs, advocacy groups, campaigners, civil society from across the world, to urge policy makers to act now to avert famine and deliver bold, long-lasting and coordinated solutions to fix a broken food system.

WHAT WE’RE LOOKING FOR

Hungry for Action is recruiting for a Campaign Officer to support the development and execution of the Hungry for Action campaign. This will be a diverse role requiring someone who is as adept in crafting and delivering effective campaigns which mobilise the public to action, and developing strategies to influence political leaders. Hungry for Action needs someone who understands the links between policy, advocacy, campaigns and media and is able to think big about how to bring them together for the biggest impact in the context of today’s political realities. A key part of this role will be project management so there is need for someone who can handle multiple projects and is highly organized. Given the range of partners, it is essential that you are skilled in dealing with stakeholders and the competing demands that this can bring. A good understanding of the food crisis is desirable.

YOUR DELIVERABLES

Campaigns

Work with the campaign director to shape and execute the delivery of the Hungry for Action campaign, as follows:

  • Develop key campaign material including key messaging documents and presentations
  • Manage the development of specific projects linked to key moments including, UN General Assembly and COP. This is likely to include designing and managing events, identifying partners and developing key messages.
  • Work with the digital communications team and external stakeholders to develop and implement strategies for Hungry for Action which contribute to key campaign outcomes leveraging global opportunities in the next year.
  • Work with the policy team to develop advocacy strategies on key priorities and at key moments.
  • Establish effective relationships with a diverse range of partners from UN agencies to civil society and individual activists.
  • Keep up to date with food crisis related policy and development ensuring these are factored into campaigns.

Organisational responsibilities

  • Project management for H4A including managing regular meetings including developing agendas, scheduling and taking minutes
  • Manage the H4A newsletter ensuring strong content and timely distribution.
  • Undertake other duties that may from time to time be necessary and are compatible with the nature and level of this role.

YOUR SKILLS

  • A minimum of 5 years’ campaigns experience with proven record of performance
  • Demonstrable experience of developing innovative public mobilisation campaigns ideally including digital campaigns

ROLE DETAIL

This role reports to the Campaign Director, Hungry for Action.

Contract Type: 12 month full time contract (with possibility of extension), with 3 month probation which will be reviewed in full at milestone dates. 

Location – ‘Remote’, Flexible, UK, Europe or Africa preferred. Travel as necessary to the office in London as required and other locations for events, meetings or conferences. Applicants must have the right to work in the country in which they role is based, the Hub cannot sponsor visas or work permits.

Salary – ‘Competitive contract’ to be discussed in full at the time of interview and dependent on experience.
