ORGANIZATIONAL CONTEXT

The World Food Programme is the world’s largest humanitarian agency, fighting hunger worldwide. We are currently seeking to fill an internship position under Corporate Business Continuity Management (BCM Division at WFP. The position will be based at our Headquarters in Rome, Italy. The Internship will be for an initial period of 8 months starting from October 2023.

The corporate Business Continuity Management (BCM) office – located in the Deputy Executive Director’s Office, WFP HQ – is responsible for leading WFP’s corporate BCM work and supporting organizational resilience efforts. The team is the custodian of all corporate level business continuity policies, circulars and guidance as well as WFP’s corporate BCM and Crisis Management plans. The team supports both the Headquarters Functional Areas – such as Finance, HR, TEC, etc – and Field Offices in the development of their BMC plans, including by providing templates, advising on process mapping, and training. Development and organization of business continuity maintenance and testing, managing WFP’s Organizational Resilience Management Group (ORMG), and participation in interagency working groups are also responsibilities of the office.

GENERAL INFORMATION

  • Duration of assignment: 8 months
  • Expected Start Date: October 2023

JOB PURPOSE

The intern will be expected to participate in a range of tasks, to ensure that the BCM team’s objectives are met. Under the direct management and guidance of the Business Continuity Management Consultant, and overall oversgiht of the Head of Office, the intern is expected to assist the BCM team by doing the following (not all exhaustive/inclusive):

  • Participate in design and upgrade of BCM related IT tools and systems, i.e. e-Guide, Provision and WINGS emergency access.
  • Participate in developing and launching new innovate tools for BCM, e.g., considering and conducting research on the potential of Machine Leaning, AI and Blockchain in this area.
  • Develop BCM IT tools related training material to be included in the BCM training curriculum
  • Contribute to supporting business continuity maintenance; support the Business Continuity Consultants in exercises for HQ Functional Areas and Field Offices.
  • Collect and analyse feedback on the new Business Continuity Plan templatead support impementation of improvement.

STANDARD MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

  • Currently enrolled and have attended University courses in the last 12 months inclusive of having completed at least two years of undergraduate studies or have recently graduated in the last 6 months’ in ICT, Management, Finance, Engineering or other relevant field.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft 365 package, including Power Apps, SharePoint and Power Automate
  • Experience in variety of ICT tools and programming, such as Tableau
  • Fluent in English

SUPERVISION

The intern will report to the Business Continuity Management consultants and will also be under the general supervision of the Head of the BCM team.

TRAINING COMPONENTS

TERMS AND CONDITIONS

  • Interns receive a monthly stipend from WFP up to the maximum amount of US$1000 per month depending on the duty station of assignment. 
  • WFP is not responsible for living expenses, arrangements for accommodation, necessary visas and related costs.
  • Depending on the duty station of assignment, WFP will reimburse travel ticket for candidates who are nationals of developing countries and are pursuing their studies in their home country.
  • WFP will recognize candidates’ educational credentials from recognised institutions that have been certified by competent international or national authorities such as the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO) or Ministries of Education;
