UNICEF East Asia and Pacific Regional Office (EAPRO), Bangkok

How can you make a difference? 

UNICEF East Asia and Pacific Regional Office (EAPRO) is now seeking a Junior Research Intern for donor mapping, research, and analyses to provide supportive analyses and evidence for UNICEF collaboration efforts with key public and private sector partners.

Work Assignment:

  • Pipeline mapping available of upcoming development bank’s (ADB, IsDB, WB) financing projects relevant to youth education, employability, and skilling (UNDP/UNICEF youth initiative), RO cross-cutting/ cross-sectoral areas and beyond
  • Desk research and a review conducted of public sector donor strategy and priorities (EAP and ROSA) relevant to the UNDP-UNICEF youth initiative partnership countries (Nepal, Pakistan, Malaysia, Thailand, and Indonesia) and beyond, including relevant support to RO cross-cutting/ cross-sectoral areas
  • Partner engagement action plan support with global/ regional strategy and priorities of donors
  • Public sector engagement pipelines and results in UNISON processed and up to date.

Duration of Contract:  3.5 months (15 December 2023 – 31 March 2024), full-time

Workplace: UNICEF EAPRO office

Qualifications of Successful Candidate:

Be enrolled in graduate or Ph.D. degree programme or be a recent graduate in social sciences or international development from recognized academic institution. A first level university degree in combination with qualifying experience may be accepted in lieu of the advanced university degree.

  • Applicants who have graduated within the past two years are considered recent graduates.
  • Have excellent academic performance as demonstrated by recent university or institutional records.
  • Prior experience with international or child rights organizations an asset.
  • Proven good track records on completion of similar assignments.

Language Requirements: Fluency in English is required for this position.

Other Requirements:

  • Advanced ability to express clearly and concisely ideas and concepts in written and oral form; specific skills in reports writing and editing.
  • Strong working knowledge of computer systems and applications, specifically interactive digital media.
  • Ability to work in an international and multicultural environment.
  • Ability to multi-task, to handle stressful situations effectively; and to work well under pressure and in response to changing needs
  • Good interpersonal skills, and ability to establish and maintain effective working relations within a team.
  • Proven ability to work both independently and as part of a team.

Conditions of Intern:

  1. Expenses: Stipend according to UNICEF’s guideline is applicable.
  2. Health/Medical insurance: UNICEF accepts no responsibility for costs or fatality arising from illness or accidents incurred during the internship whether on or off UNICEF premises.  The intern must carry adequate and regular medical insurance.  The intern will be required to provide with a proof of medical insurance prior to commence work.
  3. Confidentiality. The intern is required to respect the confidentiality of information that s/he collect or is exposed to at UNICEF. No reports or papers may be published based on information obtained from UNICEF without the explicit written authorization by the Head of Office or Division Director.
  4. Impartiality. The intern is required to respect the impartiality and independence required of UNICEF and will not seek or accept instructions regarding the services performed under the internship agreement from any Government or from any authority external to UNICEF.
  5. Employment Prospects. There is no expectance of employment at the end of the internship.
