This role will be responsible to action within accounting / finance / treasury processes and procedures for efficient P2P processing within a designated area of the transactional services environment (Africa/Australia) to meet financial objectives, delegations of authority, cash forecasting and funding and transaction/payment approvals to enable timeous delivery of high volume / high value goods, products, and services to end-users.

GENERAL ACCOUNTABILITY:

  • Action procedures as required within accounting, financial and/or treasury conventions and timelines for efficient P2P processing within the transactional services environment to meet financial objectives, delegations of authority, cash forecasting and funding, and transaction approvals to enable delivery of high volume / high value goods, products, and services.
  • Action procedures as required by ensuring that accounting, financial or treasury efforts, activities and outputs meet all compliance, accounting/financial codes, internal process and other requirements within the P2P value chain to support the timeous delivery of products and services to end-user/s
  • Operate strictly within the framework of robust financial and financial forecasting disciplines to ensure accurate/correct funding levels are projected and anticipated to meet transactional requirements within contractual and other deadlines for products and/or services to be supplied.
  • Responsible to ensure efficiencies and effectiveness within financial/treasury sphere of influence by actioning and initiating activities as required in line with financial objectives in support of the Company’s objectives.
  • Operate within treasury back-office procedures (relating specifically to bank reconciliations; bank clearing and bank journals) by applying accounting and procedural conventions and processes, and allocating posts to enterprise system (SAP, and other systems).
  • Check petty cash limits and exceptions in general in terms of compliance and other parameters, allocate journal posts relating to petty cash holdings, and ensure adherence to Company policy.
  • Prepare, review and/or simulate journals by applying accounting/financial conventions, posting as appropriate in relevant module/s of enterprise system (SAP), and review cash balances for accuracy.
  • Prepare and review bank clearings to confirm that cash movements are accurately accounted for by applying standard accounting practices and conventions. 
  • Maintain and reconcile bank statements, using and accessing online banking systems as appropriate, and initiating processes / mechanisms for accounts to be cleared to enable timeous payments to suppliers so as not to compromise on-time delivery of products, goods, and services.
  • Provide constructive and meaningful inputs into cash flow forecasting taking cognisance of contractual and other payment terms, to produce related cash flow forecasting reports.
  • Anticipate funding requirements from cash flow forecasts and work within procedures and processes to ensure monies are available to cover payment transactions, for payment runs to be successful, and for online payments to be honoured timeously within agreed payment terms.
  • Complete and action finance/treasury procedures as these relate to and interface with bank systems, processes and standards to ensure an efficient payment service to key stakeholders through knowledge and understanding of bank and cash payment processes within SAP; through understanding and complying with payment workflow/approval processes; by understanding the need for strict controls to mitigate risk; by efficiently processing payments in SAP; by ensuring successful payments through review and scrutiny of  bank statements; and by (ensuring) prompt processing (of) bank journals.
  • Provide meaningful financial/treasury support to stakeholders as required relating to technical accounting, financial and treasury input, risk mitigation and the control environment through intimate working knowledge of accounting, financial and treasury procedures, and conventions.
  • Review vendor master data additions and changes for adherence to governance policies prior to approval and subsequent creation on SAP.
  • Implement tasks and resolve problems as directed to meet finance/treasury objectives by drawing on finance/accounting, commercial and other knowledge and skills, combining with SAP functionality and Excel/computer tools, and by using organizational knowledge and experience.

QUALIFICATION & SKILL REQUIREMENTS:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Commerce (or equivalent) with specialization in Accounting and/or Finance

EXPERIENCE:

  • Minimum 3 years’ experience in a similar role with exposure and experience in entry-level accounting/financial functions
  • Experience in a mining company while not a requirement would be an advantage.
  • Knowledge of / experience in SAP
  • A strong customer focus and ability to work in a global, demanding environment.
  • Analytical skills and ability to define problems, collects details data, analyse, and interpret results and recommend changes and improvements.
