The United Nations International Telecommunication Union (ITU) Young Professionals Program is now open for applications


ITU is the leading United Nations agency for information and communication technologies, with the mission to connect the world. To achieve this, ITU manages the radio-frequency spectrum and satellite orbits at the international level, works to improve communication infrastructure in the developing world, and establishes global standards that foster seamless interconnection of a vast range of communication systems. 


The United Nations International Telecommunication Union (ITU) Young Professionals Program is now open for applications

The ITU YPP is a recruitment initiative for the next generation of global ICT experts and leaders to help shape the future of the tech sector – standards, policies, regulations and recommendations. Over the course of this 2-year program, talented and qualified individuals will be exposed to understand technology, regulatory and policy issues and learn how it works in practice. Young experts will contribute to bridging the digital divide and leveraging technology for the benefit of society. The ITU YPP will support emerging talent to work across ITU’s three Sectors and the General Secretariat in HQs and the field. Our first group of Young Professionals will join ITU in early 2024.​​ 

Be the first to join ITU Young Professional Programme (YPP).

  • The YPP program aims to bring young experts from underrepresented countries with a focus on developing countries, LDCs, LLDCS and SIDS.
  • It will be a 2 years rotation program (First year at ITU-HQ and second year possibly in a Regional/Area Office).
  • Young experts will contribute to bridging the digital divide and leveraging technology for the benefit of society. 
  • YPP emerging talent will work across ITU’s three Sectors and the General Secretariat.

Over the course of this 2-year program, talented and qualified individuals will be exposed to understand technology, regulatory and policy issues and learn how it works in practice.

Young experts will contribute to bridging the digital divide and leveraging technology for the benefit of society. The ITU YPP will support emerging talent to work across ITU’s three Sectors and the General Secretariat in HQs and the field. Our first group of Young Professionals will join ITU in early 2024.

A strong asset would be candidates with studies related to emerging technologies (including but not limited to topics such as Artificial Intelligence, Quantum, Internet of Things, Future Generation of Networks).

Candidates with knowledge and experience in data management, data analytics, data science, data privacy, and cybersecurity are encouraged to apply.
