Job Description

Main Purpose of the Job:

To prevent loss of life or bodily injury. Reporting to the Waterpark Lifeguard Supervisor, the successful applicants will undergo Waterpark training in accordance with Company processes and procedures.

Knowledge

  1. Administers First Aid and CPR as per best practice
  2. Ability to carry the rescue technique chosen
  3. Assesses the situation and selects the best rescue technique to the situation
  4. Manages and monitors patient’s progress
  5. Is recognized as an expert in his/ her field Aligns output with legal requirements
  6. Is sympathetic without apologizing or accepting liability
  7. Keeps qualifications up to date via compulsory annual retests
  8. Educates guests on policies and procedures to ensure safety
  9. Knows what information to convey and maintains records as required by SOP
  10. Keeps up to date on changes to SOP and acts in the companies best interest
  11. Recognizes risks and potential injuries before they become a problem
  12. Is familiar with area of responsibility and recognizes patterns to provide detailed feedback
  13. Patrols high risk areas and blind spots
  14. Views all aquatic levels and responds accordingly
  15. Removes obstacles and risks

  5. Code 1: Life threatening medical emergency – save life!
  6. Code 2: Severe injury – request assistance
  7. Code 3: Guest complaint

Facility and Activity Control

  1. International and national Safety standards maintained
  2. Facilities and activities controlled as per SOP/ daily checklist
  3. Risk assessment ensures safety and security as per SI SLA’s
  4. Threats identified and removed proactively
  5. Controls meet international best practice
  6. Injuries sustained cannot be ascribed to negligence
  7. Structured and ordered as per SO

Injury Prevention

  1. All SOP’s adhered to and facility rules are enforced
  2. Information has been provided to guest proactively
  3. Injuries sustained cannot be ascribed to negligence
  4. Threats (hazardous situations and behaviours) identified and removed proactively
  5. Controls meet international best practice

Guest Service

  1. Grooming and dress code as per SOP
  2. Visibility as per SOP/ shift roster
  3. Guest interaction as per SOP
Job Requirements

Education, experience and competencies required:

  1. Matric / Grade 12 or Grade 11 with Lifeguard Award (NQF 4)
  2. Certified in (current and up to date through annual re-tests)
  3. Lifeguard award (LGA surf)
  4. LGA pool
  1. 2 years in a lifeguard or medical field (e.g. EMS, paramedics, etc.) essential
  2. Experience Working in a service industry an advantage
