Job Requirements

The Girls’ College invites applications for the above-mentioned position, which will be available from 1 January 2026. Applications are invited from suitably qualified and experienced individuals who believe they have the required skills and competencies to take on this leadership position.

Key responsibilities of this role include:

  1. A recognised degree and/or a 4-year professional teaching qualification with at least 8 years’ teaching experience
  2. A passion and vision for English
  3. A sound and progressive understanding of international trends and changes in girls’ education and 21st century             learning
  4. Experience in leading change, transformation and diversity initiatives within the English curriculum
  5. The desire to be part of a dynamic team
  6. Superior planning, organisational and reporting skills
  7. Experience teaching English at the FET level, preferably up to Grade 12 level
  8. Teaching at an IEB school and NSC marking experience will be advantageous
  9. Experience and expertise in guiding students to reach their true potential
  10. Create classroom communities where all members of the class are valued, and contribute to the creation of             knowledge
  11. Evaluate, reflect on, and refine teaching practice
  12. Excellent communication (oral, written and presentation) and technology skills
  13. Noteworthy time management and interpersonal skills
  14. Knowledge in creating varied and innovative learning programmes and assessment
  15. Interest in cross-curricular and interdisciplinary work
  16. A willingness to work within the values, Christian ethos and mission of the College as well as to participate in the             broader life of the school, including extramural activities
  17. Proof of registration with SACE
  18. Any staff member working within a school is required to have a sexual offender’s clearance certificate
