Job Description

The ideal candidate for this role will be responsible to implement, facilitate, guide and audit compliance within the Occupational Health and Safety, Maintenance, Security and Quality Guidelines.

The incumbent will need to ensure that all the HomeChoice Showrooms are compliant with the current legislation, HC Minimum SHERQ Standards and Policies to ensure limited risk.

Policies                                                                        

1. Familiarize yourself with all relevant company policies and procedures.
2. Inspect & Audit that all company polices implemented as required especially the SHERQ Policies.                                     

Health & Safety                                                                         “

Ensure full compliance to the OHS, COID Acts and the minimum ISO 45001:2018 standards:

1. Identify Hazards and Risks
2. Implement appropriate controls to manage the risks.
3. Train all relevant appointees to ensure competency in H&S
4. Appoint competent employees to maintenance the standards.
5. Implement the relevant standards and procedures.
6. Implement appropriate checks and inspections to manage the risks.
7. Inspect, Audit and Evaluate effectiveness of the H&S system.
8. Arrange monthly SHE Meetings.
9. Ensure budget allocation to implement the H&S system.
10. Implement and use the MANGO SHERQ Online Management system to
11. control and manage the relevant risks.
12. Ensure continuous improvements, corrective actions and new initiatives
13. implemented.
14. NB: Ongoing reduction of IOD’s / DIFR’s year on year – Target Zero Injuries.
15. Compliance to Department of Labour H&S requirements.
16. NB: Achieve yearly ISO Certification!                                                            

Maintenance                                                                            

1. Identify Maintenance Hazards and Risks
2. Ensure appropriate controls to manage the maintenance risks implemented and
3. actioned.
4. Training of all maintenance personnel in Safe Working Processes.
5. Ensure Maintenance comply to relevant OHS Act Regulations & Local Bylaws
6. Ensure compliance to SANS Standards on building maintenance, plumbing,
7. electrical, fire & security systems etc.
8. Inspect, Audit and implement continuous improvements and corrective actions
9. for all gaps and defects identified.                                                                

Environmental                                                                         

1. Identify Environmental Aspects and Impacts
2. Ensure appropriate controls implemented to manage the environmental impacts to ensure compliance to NEMA & ISO 14001:2015
3. Managing Waste Contractors to ensure compliance.
4. Identify waste streams and implement recycling strategy to achieve ZERO
5. waste to Landfill.
6. Inspect, Audit and implement continuous improvements and corrective actions for all gaps and defects identified.
7. NB: Achieve yearly ISO Certification!                                                            

Quality

Risk & Security                                                                         

1. Identify Security Hazards and Risks
2. Implement appropriate security controls to manage the risks.
3. Managing Security Contractors to ensure compliance.
4. Ensure compliance to PSIRA & SAIDSA regulations.
5. Implement systems, procedures and checks to ensure zero pilferage, theft and
6. or robberies occur.

Business Continuity                                                                              

1. Implement appropriate BCM procedures and plans.
2. Review and train employees on BCM Plans and actions.

Quarterly and yearly assessments                                                                              

1. Carry out monthly & quarterly audits and assessment to ensure compliance.
2. All stores to be audited at least twice a year.
3. Assist with monthly inspections and compliance audits at third party vendors.                   

Meetings                                                                                   

1. Conduct Health and Safety / Mango meetings monthly.
2. Arrange and ensure security meetings on a monthly basis.
3. General Area Manager meetings and feedback on inspection findings.                                
4. General reporting of store audits.
5. Minutes of meetings
6. Monthly reports on Mango events etc.                                                                       

Adhoc Tasks                                                                             

1. Assist the facilities team with any admin or additional duties as and when the need arises.                                                                                  

HR & IR Management                                                                           

1. Assist with any HR / IT Investigations and hearings.
2. Compile investigation packs for Disciplinary Hearings.
3. Prosecute and our Chair Disciplinary Hearings

Finance                                           

1. Manage the entire maintenance and SHERQ budget.
2. Arrange adhoc maintenance and repair work.
3. Manage SHERQ Training budget.   

Job Requirements

What you’ll need to do this role

1. Relevant Diploma (Minimum) – Degree (Advantage)
2. Must have a vehicle license min EB / Code 8.
3. At least 2-5 years’ experience within a safety administrative role and or acting as an SHE Representative.
4. Qualified (certification) and acted as a First Aid, Fire Fighting and H&S Rep is essential.
5. At least 2-3 years previous experience within a Health and Safety Role where Hazards, Risks was identified, and Controls implemented.
6. At least 2-4 years’ working experience within a facilities department and have technical knowledge of facility management and maintenance of electrical, plumbing, fire and security systems.
7. Knowledge of and experience in managing permanent and temp contractors i.e., Adhoc Maintenance, Contract Security, Cleaning and Labour Brokers.
8. Qualified in ISO 45001:2018 / ISO 14001:2015 / ISO 9001:2015 and the implementation of the ISO systems via the Mango online SHERQ Management system.
9. Knowledge to develop, implement and manage a SHERQ Budget.
10. Experience in working as part of a team to implement and complete projects as per required deadlines and budget
11. 5+ Years Extensive Knowledge of Security Systems, CCTV & Alarm systems.
12. Knowledge and understanding how to do Cash and Fraud Investigations.
13. Able to travel and away from home for weeks at a time.
14. Willing and able to work remotely from home if and when required.
