Job Summary

To ensure the safety and security of company assets, employees, and visitors across Lancet Laboratories buildings assigned to the Security Supervisor by overseeing security operations, monitoring surveillance systems, and implementing access control and incident response procedures.

Minimum Requirements

  1. Grade 12 or relevant NQF level 4 qualification
  2. PSiRA Grade A
  3. An NQF Level 6 qualification in Security Management, Risk Management, or Management is advantageous
  4. A driver’s licence is advantageous

Experience

  1. 3-5 years relevant working experience
  2. 0-1 year experience in a supervisory position

Key Performance Areas

Security Operations and Surveillance
• Oversees the implementation of security measures across multiple buildings to protect company assets, staff, and visitors.
• Supervises on-site security personnel and control room operators, ensuring duties are performed effectively and shifts are adequately covered.
• Monitors and reviews CCTV footage from high-risk access and exit points to identify unauthorised activity or asset removal.
• Ensures continuous surveillance coverage and proper backup of camera footage in accordance with company policies.
• Supports emergency response coordination and incident resolution in collaboration with Health & Safety Officers and emergency services when needed.

Access Control and Incident Management
• Manages the issuing, tracking, and recovery of access cards for staff and authorised contractors based on written instruction from relevant HODs.
• Maintains an accurate access card register and ensures cost recovery for lost cards.
• Reviews and follows up on security incidents recorded in the Occurrence Book (OB), escalating matters to the Security Manager, Group Facilities and Logistics Manager, Internal Audit, or HR as appropriate.

Team Leadership and Shift Supervision
• Prepares and manages rosters to ensure optimal staff coverage and rotation.
• Provides guidance and performance oversight to the security team, including mentoring and on-the-job training where required.
• Reviews monthly attendance and telephone usage reports and submits verified data to the Security Manager.
• Ensures adherence to company policies, procedures, and professional conduct standards by all direct reports.

Equipment, Systems, and Reporting
• Sources quotations for security-related equipment and maintenance services and secures approvals through the Security Manager and / Group Facilities and Logistics Manager.
• Drafts and submits weekly and monthly operational reports for review by the Security Manager.
• Participates in audits, inspections, and investigations by providing relevant reports or footage when requested.

Parking and Facility Access Oversight
• Manages the allocation of designated parking bays for staff and clients.
• Coordinates site access for external contractors, suppliers, and service providers, ensuring proper authorisation is in place.
• Ensures all third-party access complies with security protocols and documentation requirements.
