iSimangaliso Wetland Park Authority is inviting Unemployed Graduates from previously disadvantaged backgrounds to apply for Groen Sebenza Internship Programme


The initiative aims to provide these opportunities from 1 April 2024 to 31 March 2026 to the unemployed graduates primarily from the previously disadvantaged backgrounds and pair them with experienced officials in the form of mentorship to learn, grow and eventually gain competence and confidence to embark on careers.

iSimangaliso Wetland Park Authority, a renowned World Heritage Park where conservation, sustainable tourism and benefit sharing prevails, is inviting Unemployed Graduates from previously disadvantaged backgrounds to apply for Groen Sebenza Internship Programme. Groen Sebenza is a youth capacity development initiative and programme which will be implemented by iSimangaliso Wetland Park Authority within the Natural Resource Management (NRM) Programmes. The programme is aimed at supporting experiential learning, capacity development and research in the fields aligned to the Department of Forestry, Fisheries, and Environment (DFFE), and the Environment NRM vision “to support sustainable livelihoods for local people through integrated landscape management that strives for resilient social-ecological systems, and which fosters equity in access to ecosystem services. The initiative aims to provide these opportunities from 1 April 2024 to 31 March 2026 to the unemployed graduates primarily from the previously disadvantaged backgrounds and pair them with experienced officials in the form of mentorship to learn, grow and eventually gain competence and confidence to embark on careers.

REQUIREMENTS

The minimum requirements to qualify for the Groen Sebenza internship Programme are the
following:

  • Qualifications – Please refer to the table below for specific qualifications.
  • SA citizenship
  • A demonstrated and clearly articulated commitment to the career of your choice.
  • A commitment to career development
  • Good leadership potential
  • Must be unemployed.
  • The ability to function under pressure.
  • Ability to work well independently and as part of a team.
  • Applicants must clearly indicate the qualifications, reference number and the programme he / she is applying for.

Documents Required

Applicants are required to attach the certified copies of the following documents.

  • Covering Letter / Motivation (indicate why you should be considered for the internship)
  • A recently certified copy of your ID
  • A recently certified Grade 12 certificate
  • A recently certified copy of your tertiary qualifications
  • A recently certified copy of a valid driver’s license (if required)
  • CV of not more than 3 pages
  • Proof of address
  • Certification should not be older than 3 months.
