Communications Internship in the Anti-Corruption Team at UNDP

UNDP works in about 170 countries and territories, helping to eradicate poverty, reduce inequalities and exclusion, and build resilience so countries can sustain progress. As the UN’s development agency, UNDP plays a critical role in helping countries achieve the Sustainable Development Goals.

UNDP’s work on anti-corruption has been instrumental in advancing the transparency, accountability, and integrity agendas at global, regional and country levels. The global anti-corruption project contributes to the implementation of the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development by integrating anti-corruption solutions in service delivery sectors, strengthening the institutional capacity of institutions to prevent and address corruption, leveraging technology and innovation for integrity and anti-corruption, and leading anti-corruption knowledge and global advocacy on anti-corruption.

LOCATION: Oslo, Norway

Duties and Responsibilities

Under the supervision of the Global Programme Advisor on Anti-Corruption at the UNDP Global Policy Centre for Governance, the intern will:

  • Help to promote awareness of the Centre’s mandate, work, and results, through support of the implementation of the Centre and the anti-corruption team’s communication and partnership strategies.
  • Assist in the development of project communications and other advocacy materials including, among others social media content, blogs, Op-Eds, case studies, stories, interviews etc.
  • Update the anti-corruption website and distribute content on dedicated social media platforms.
  • Monitor the media landscape relevant to GPCG’s  and the anti-corruption team’s work.
  • Assist with in-house design through programmes like CANVA.
  • Assist in preparing launches of UNDP reports and other public events. 
  • Attend meetings and support note taking as relevant.
  • Support the work areas in GPCG and the anti-corruption team. 
  • Develop analyses and background documents on key issues, as well as drafting and editing other materials.
  • Additional tasks as required to support the work of the Global Policy Centre for Governance and the anti-corruption team.

Competencies

  • Excellent communications skills in Norwegian and English, written and oral. 
  • Demonstrated interest in, and knowledge of global development and the work of international organisations. 
  • Strong interest in governance, anti-corruption, and democracy issues. 
  • Team player; works collaboratively with colleagues to achieve organizational goals.
  • Good organizational and time management skills.
  • Able to work independently.
  • Good social media skills; knowledge of web publication tools and photo editing tools is an advantage.
  • Knowledge of the UN/UNDP and commitment to UN mission and UNDP mandate is an advantage.
  • Work experience from a developing country and/or international organisation or related is an advantage. 

Required Skills and Experience

Languages:

  • Fluency in Norwegian is a requirement.
  • Fluency in English is a requirement

Education:

Applicants to the UNDP internship programme must at the time of application meet one of the following requirements: 

  • Be enrolled in the final academic year of a first university degree programme (such as bachelor’s degree or equivalent); preferably in journalism, communications, international affairs, international development or other relevant social sciences.
  • Be enrolled in a postgraduate degree programme (such as a master’s programme, or higher); preferably in journalism, communications, international affairs, international development or other relevant social sciences 
  • Have recently graduated with a university degree (as defined above and, if selected, must start the internship within one-year of graduation; 
  • Be enrolled in a postgraduate professional traineeship program and undertake the internship as part of this program.
