PURPOSE OF THE JOB:

To carry out all welding activities required for plant/section maintenance.

QUALIFICATION(S) & EXPERIENCE REQUIRED:

Minimum Qualifications:

1. Grade 12 / N3 with Mathematics and Science
2. Qualified Welder with Trade Test
3. Coded Welder – 6G

Experience:

1. 3 years post trade test experience in a similar working environment
2. Argon welding experience

Ideal Requirements:

Qualifications: (Same as minimum plus the following)

1. Diploma in Engineering
2. SAIW Certification
3. Completion of the following SHEQ training:
   • GHSTC (General Safety, Health & Environmental Training)
   • HIRA (Risk Analysis)

Experience:

1. 5 years post trade test, relevant to the trade (advantageous)

HEADLINE KEY RESULT AREAS:

1. Identify and use correct welding consumables for material
2. Qualified to use stick arc welding and MIG welding machines
3. Must have experience of argon welding and understand the methods of welding
4. Ensure correct use of gas cutting and heating equipment
5. Tack and arc weld work pieces incidental to the trade using manual metal arc welding techniques
6. Utilise all tools and equipment required for welding
7. Ensure that welding tasks and activities correspond with daily job cards
8. Make sure that stores requisitions correspond with items received
9. Effective knowledge of basic rigging
10. Effective knowledge of drawings and sketches
11. Adhere to requirements for safety within the work environment
12. Effective cleaning after work completion
13. Effective inspection and testing
