The SAAFoST Aubrey Parsons Study Grant is a prestigious financial award offered by the South African Association for Food Science and Technology (SAAFoST) Foundation. Valued at R20,000, this grant is specifically designed for full-time students pursuing BSc (Hons) or BTech degrees in the fields of Food Science and Food Technology.

Unlike general bursaries, this grant is an award for excellence and academic distinction, aimed at supporting the next generation of food scientists in South Africa.

2. Eligibility & Requirements

To be considered for the 2026 academic year, applicants must meet the following stringent criteria:

  • SAAFoST Membership: You must have been an active member of SAAFoST for at least 12 months preceding your application.
  • Academic Excellence: Applicants must maintain a minimum overall average of 70% in their previous academic years.
  • Field of Study: Must be enrolled full-time in a BSc (Hons) or BTech program focusing on Food Science or Technology.
  • Citizenship: Open to South African citizens or permanent residents.

  3. Documentation: Ensure you have your SAAFoST membership proof, full academic transcripts, and proof of 2026 registration ready.
  4. Submission: The Department Head completes the official nomination form and submits it to the SAAFoST Membership Development Officer.
